Mocchi Singapore (food review)

I have been reaching out for Matcha desserts at the common spots such as Matchaya and Tsujiri. Glad to find an amazing dessert box at Mocchi Singapore, who has French and Japanese fusion desserts. They use Yamamasa_koyamaen's matcha powder from Japan for their treats.

There’s comforting homemade desserts, soft serve and drinks at an affordable price tag. It’s truly a hidden gem at Chinatown food street.

Matcha tiramisu

The cute bear is actually edible! It’s tiramisu and coated with a layer of chocolate. Crack open the bear for the amazing sweetness that's so indulgent. The sweetness complements the bitterness of matcha perfectly. You will definitely enjoy the combination of matcha lady finger sponge and syrup, tiramisu mousse and ivory chocolate. Definitely good for sharing with your friends.

Strawberry Cream Cheese Brioche

There’s a generous amount of cream cheese (Chantily Cream) within the brioche bread. The strawberries add a refreshing sourness to the treat. The bread is quite firm and dense, and goes well with the soft cream.

Matcha Brioche

This is my favourite! The matcha cream is so rich and fragrant. Likewise, Mocchi Singapore adds a huge amount of cream into the bread. It’s pretty similar to matcha cream puff, but better as there are strawberries inside too.

Matcha Crepe Cake

This is a unique type of crepe cake. There’s a matcha milk sphere which you are supposed to burst to pair it with the cake. I like that the matcha taste is very pronounced and milky! The texture of the crepe is rather soft and thick. On the inside, there’s 2 layers of smooth matcha mascarpone cream and a layer of sponge cake. It comes with a “bubble” of matcha sauce that can be burst to drench it in matcha sauce.

Warabi Mochi (Kinako/Matcha/Mix)

It’s good that okinawa sugar syrup rupees come separately for the warabi. I love the generous amount of Kinako and Matcha powder on the soft and chewy mochi! Without the sugar, there’s not much sweetness and it’s perfect for the health-conscious foodies. Great that you can appreciate the taste of Mochi on its own.

Cold Whisked Matcha Latte

I love that the latte isn't too sweet so you could appreciate the richness of Matcha. Mocchi Singapore uses good quality matcha from Japan. With Meiji full cream milk, the blend is really thick and creamy. There’s a prominent earthy matcha taste to the drink which I really like. Even though the drink is sweetened, only 1% of sugar is used.

Cold Whisked Hojicha Latte

Hojicha is a type of Japanese green tea that is made by roasting tea leaves for drinking. There’s a distinct roasted taste and it is very aromatic. I could do with a richer taste of Hojicha! I love the unique fragrance and the creaminess of the drink. Good quality Yamamasa-Koyamean hojicha is used!
